Let the New Year begin...

Dear Readers...

Now it's 5 p.m. here in Finland, that means that there is only 7 hours left of 2016 for us here in Finland... It has been a Very Good reading Year for me :) I have not read this many books in a year in a looong while. I did not reach my Goodreads goal (yet at least) but I still read 24 books. My goal was 26. I'm going to raise the bar next year and try to read one book per week... If that fails, I will settle for 37 books (my age in 2017) and the ultimate minimum goal is to read 27 books... I can do it! :) I need to focus, be diligent and just do it.

My favorite book this year was probably Gone with the Wind. It was on my shelf for YEARS and this year I finally read it. It was very interesting. My second most favorite book of this year was probably Fangirl... It was easy and fast to read and very interesting. The third most favorite book was probably Me before you or Cinder... :D

Next year I have a looong list of books I want and NEED to read ASAP. Tonight I will try to finish 2 books, there's still a possibility ;)

More later! :)

Out with the Old, in with the New ;)

Hello hello hello! :)

How are ya'll doing? I'm sorry I've been a lazy blogger lately... Yesterday we celebrated the most important day of Christmas in Finland: Christmas Eve :) I didn't get any books for Christmas from my family, but I participated in the Holiday Gift Exchange in a group on https://www.goodreads.com/
The group is called Bookworm B*tches and I've been a member of it perhaps a few years, can't remember exactly... I noticed a very good thing! I have never ever read this many books in a year! At least since I started keeping track with Goodreads... One year it says I read 24 books, but it was in 2014 when I didn't yet quite understand Goodreads and I kept on adding old finished books :) This year I've read 23 books (so far), but I'll try to reach my goal, there's still SIX days left! My goal this year is 26, next year I'll try to read 27 books... Wish me luck! But, there's a huge but! LOL The "but" is: I did cheat a little this year and "read" a few coloring books, pamphlets etc. I'm such a slow and lazy reader, and sometimes I get stuck in a reading slump for the longest time,,, It sucks...

Well, so far kinda so good :) I'm two books behind, and I'm currently at the end/middle of a few books, I could just make it, if I reeeaaally try... Let's hope for the best! I'm going to REALLY focus more on books next year, and IF I'm going to "cheat" at my next year's reading challenge on Goodreads, I'm going to read really short books, not ANY coloring books! LOL :P

By the way! I've started a bookish Bullet Journal! YaY!!! :) It's going to be my book BuJo, for ideas for this blog, for updates, tracking my reading, wishlists and whatnot... :) I'm so happeee!!! :) I love my BuJos... <3 AND reading, books, music... Whenever I read, I almost always need to listen to music, at home it's not 100% necessary but when I'm somewhere else, I can NOT concentrate without music... Plus, when I'm really tired of my neighbors' noises, I can turn on my laptop, listen to Stephen Fry read HP (Harry Potter). In case you were wondering, I have been a fan of HP since 2001/2002... I read the first books and was HOOKED! Then, when I had read the few books published, I YEARNED for the next HP book to be released, pre-ordered them and read them ASAP. All my friends were reading them. Nobody could spoil anything, nobody DARED :) LOL P.S. I'm born 1980, the same year as HP himself ;)

Well, wasn't this an unusually long and inspired post, huh? :P Gotta get me some more cola-drink and continue later ;) Or tomorrow... Oops! I forgot! I received from my gift exchange -thingy Salt to the Sea ... BEFORE Christmas I bought myself many, many, many books, as Christmas gifts to me, myself and I :P LOL I was amazed, this is the first year I'm counting how many books I buy this year... I think I've bought over 30 books... Oopsie! :(

More later!!! :)

Merry Read-a-thon! :)

Well hello there!

My Goodreads goal for this year is to read 26 books... Now I've read 23... Yesterday I read a Nancy Drew book, the first I ever owned. I usually re-read it for fun every year. I know it by heart. I own it in Swedish, because when I was a little girl I wasn't that good at English... My first Nancy Drew book is named:

Buried Secrets

Now, just a moment ago I finished a second book. It was short, really weird and strange, but by one of my favorite authors, Neil Gaiman. It was:

the ocean at the end of the lane

I really didn't care for it, sorry. :( Coraline was better :) This week I got my Christmas Gift from Goodreads Bookworm bitches Holiday gift exchange :) It was a book that I have been wanting to read for a few months now:

salt to the sea

Hailey in Bookland has been recommending it in many of her videos... :) I usually watch all her videos right after they've been published and try to figure out which of her recommendations I want to read. I love reading Young Adult books.

Lately I've been listening to the audiobooks for Harry Potter #4 and Harry Potter # 6:

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Read by none other than the great and wonderful Stephen Fry <3

Well, thank you for stopping by! :) I'll be getting back to my reading ;)

Dear Reader...

Hi again!

So sorry, I've been suffering from both a reading-slump and writer's block... Not a good combination. Also, because I don't read much, it gets more difficult to get new ideas for this blog. I'm so sorry! :( I'll try to be a better blogger.

On the 13th of this month, "Bookmas" started. It's a read-a-thon hosted by Hailey in Bookland. Here's a link to her annoucment:

Bookmas

It's so fun to watch her videos. :) I can't make videos because my voice doesn't work. But I sometimes just make videos with just music, no talking. Kinda boring, I know :P Today I'm going to continue with Harry Christmas and start with bookmas. Of course, I need to decide a TBR (again), which is nice but I never read only the books on my TBR for different Read-a-thons. The only exception would be Harry Christmas, because, hey, it's HARRY POTTER :D

Last week I got a few new books. I got

Scarlet

The thousandth floor

and on Monday, my old favorite arrived. I didn't have it in hardcover yet, so I had to get it...

Prinsessa

I was just counting my books... I have gotten atleast 30 new books this year :O So far... ;P Wow, that's kinda a lot... ;) LOL I hope I can read all the books I own before I die. My goodreads goal for this year is 26, and so far I've read 21. I'm currently reading more than nine books so I hope to finish five of them still this year...

My favorite thing about reading is that it's very casual. You don't HAVE to read, but at the same time you can push yourself if you want. and you can choose what you read. You have the Freedom and Choice. :) And there's no time limit either. At least when you're reading for fun ;)

More later!

A Harry Christmas Readathon!

Hello there ! 😉

How are you, dear readers ? I'm so sorry , that I have been away . .. I have no good excuse . I'm sorry . I guess it's been a bit stressful , this pre -Christmas time ... Well , anyways . .. Christmas IS coming , soon ! And I just found this amazing read a thon ! Which I have started participating in already ! I think I am more motivated this time . It's not books about Christmas , or Winter , or snow... it's not books that are big and chunky . No... It's Harry Potter ! 😊 Yeees !

Here's the link to the read a thon .

https://mobile.twitter.com/harryxmastoyou

I found this on the blog of an awesome blogger ,  the little book owl . She's great ! Also ,  she is from Australia . Which seems like a nice place , except for the bugs . .. and other dangerous things .

Sooo , let's get back to the subject . Harry Potter .  Yes .  I have read most of the books a few times but the fifth and seventh , I have read only once . I actually have audible now ,  so last month I got HP 6. I listened to the first chapter today . Stephen Fry is the best narrator ever! It's so wonderful . This month I'm thinking of getting HP 4... from audible . Eventually , I wish to own them all on audible . I get one book a month with my one credit that I pay for every month .

Harry Potter . I have loved the books since I first watched the first movie , got the first book and started reading . the best thing about the books is probably the amazing world that JK Rowling creates. I remember wishing to live in the Harry Potter universe . And all the ingenious names , terms , sayings . .. All of the vocabulary ! There's nothing quite like it . Except maybe JRR Tolkien . .. Which I have not read ! I mean , I have read the Hobbit when I was a child but I have not yet read Lord of the Rings . I am ashamed .

Well , anyways . . .  The readathon goes on for the month of December . Read as much Harry Potter as you can ! I will try . I am starting strong .

Take care y'all! 🌼

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi !

Since it's Thanksgiving , I have been thinking about posting a list of the books I'm most thankful for . I'm going to narrow it down to a few ... 😊 The books I'm most thankful for are:

Les Misérables

The Harry Potter series

The Hunger Games

The weight of silence

The Neverending Story

There's so many more , but I can write about them later . I love Les Misérables . I am re-reading it now . It's such a beautiful story and it teaches a good lesson . We should not judge others ,  everybody can change , everyone should get another chance . I love the beautiful language in the book and it's so easy and quick to read. If you haven't already read Les Misérables , I strongly recommend that you do . It's a one of a kind story and so moving . I always cry when I read it .

Oops ! It is getting very late . I better go to bed . I'm going to continue with this list later .

Take care !

A reading slump in the middle of a read-a-thon...

Hi...

Oh dear... I'm having the hardest time picking up a book and reading. Today I have read a little. This is just awful. Well, I'm currently reading many books per usual . 😁 I really like All the birds in the sky . It's simply fabulous . Tomorrow I'm going to reserve a certain amount of time to read . Wish me luck !

The most wonderful book I've read recently is probably "Cinder " or "Fangirl " or "Me before you "... I've read so many good books lately . I am re-reading Les Misérables , in Swedish , because my French is not good enough for me to read it in French . I do own the book in Swedish , English and French . Boy , I love languages . I'm fluent in three languages . Swedish , Finnish and English . Then I can get by on my German and Spanish skills when travelling . Also , I have studied French at the University of Stockholm when I lived there . And of course in high school and senior high . I have never studied German or Spanish , but I visit Germany and Spain often . Also , because I know Swedish , I can understand a lot of Danish and Norwegian . And because I know Finnish , it's easy for me to understand Estonian . Well , that's a lot . I do only consider myself bilingual and English is my strongest "foreign language ". English was my major at the University . I had some very good teachers there , as I did in high school and senior high . Man , I miss studying . ..

I'm sorry , this almost is a kind of CV 😁 Lol...

I love readathons . They are challenging but fun . Now I just need to read more in my Tomes . ..

A tome is considered a book with over 500 pages . The BB's Epic Fall readathon is more flexible . You don't have to read a certain kind of book . I have noticed that I like flexible challenges more . I need the freedom to choose what I read . That's why my Ho-ho-ho read-a-thon failed . .. 😕

Well , now I'm going to bed , it's 11.45 p . m .  here now . Have a great day ! Sorry this became a little bit different kind of post . 😟 Take care !

The Tome Topple Readathon and the BB's Epic Fall Readathon

Hi guys! :)

Soo... I'm so sorry I've been MIA for a while. I tried to read Christmas-themed books, or books with snow, winter etc. in them but I was in a huge reading slump. It was awful! :( I was so sure it wouldn't happen to me again, not this soon. When Dewey's Readathon happened, I was so happy and I finished two books! That's a lot for me. I need a lot of sleep and I'm a very slow reader... Well, from yesterday the 18th of November and two weeks forward, there are two of my Goodreads groups having a readathon :) The first one is Bookworm Bitches BB's Epic Fall Readathon 2016 and the second is the Tome Topple Readathon. Both started yesterday and both end on the 1st of December...

The Tome Topple is all about BIG books... You're encouraged to read thick books. So, a tome is a book that's over 500 pages... I'm currently reading a few tomes. First of all, I'm re-reading Les Miserables and a while ago I started All the light we cannot see. Then I plan to re-start The Lord of the Rings.

For the BB's Epic Fall Readathon 2016, one can read all kinds of books. I was thinking and planning to read a bit in a tome and then a little in another book, just to mixed it up a little. I have some new books! YaY!!! :) Books are my best friends, my love, my life <3 I'm going to post later pictures of my new books and my TBRs... :)

I've been in a reading slump many times in my life, sometimes for a very long time.

More later! Thanks for reading! :)

Ho-Ho-Ho Read-a-thon has begun! :)

Here is my huge TBR for this read-a-thon... I'm a veeery slow reader. Some of these I've started before but I got stuck, so I'll be starting each from the very beginning... Yesterday I didn't have time to read, but today I'm free all day. :) Here are links to the books on Goodreads

A Game of Thrones

Hogfather

Wintersmith

The Gift

The Land of Decoration

Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe

The Golden Compass

Misery

So, I've read an loved Stephen King's book for a while now. I'm looking forward to reading Misery. I started reading Stephen King when I was 15. My favorite book by him, so far, is probably Carrie. It was scary. My other favorite is The Green Mile. The movie was spectacular. <3 I love John Coffey.

Well, now I better go read. I've got my Christmas music on and my chocolate and Christmas soda ready ;) The Christmas soda is something we only have in Finland, it's called Christmas Apple soda.

Laters! :)

My goal post for the Ho-ho-ho read-a-thon...

Hi!

This is my first time that I'm posting a goal post for a read-a-thon... My goal is simply to read as much as possible. Hopefully, I'll finish at least two or three books. I'm not going to start reading every book from the beginning, but  some I'll start at the beginning of the read-a-thon. Also, I'm not going to mind if I have read some of these books before. I'm just going to enjoy them this time. Again or for the first time. This will be sooo fun!

If some of you are going to participate in the read-a-thon, I say to you : Good luck and have fun! 😊

Thursday, November 3, 2016

Hey there!

Hey there! :)

Hey there!

So... The read-a-thon is over... The last hours of the read-a-thon that I was awake, I started this book:

All the light we cannot see

I got it from the bookstore a few months ago. I'm now on page 112... It is really good so far... Then, a few weeks ago I got this book: All the birds in the sky I started it yesterday. I always read many books at the same time. At first, I confused it with this book: All the bright places Which I also want to read. I'm going to read it later. But I'm glad I also got to read All the birds in the sky because I REALLY like it so far... I seem to have a thing for books with titles that start with the words: All The... lol :P

I love goodreads. I love the different groups on there. I'm most active in Bookworm Bitches. :)

Now, I HAVE to continue reading... ;)

I'll try and update this blog more.
Have a great weekend! :)

Onwards!

Hi!

Wow. Now I just finished Me before you ...

Oh dear. It was spectacular. I mean, really. Thank goodness for this book. It was just so beautiful. So, during this readathon so far, I've finished two books. I did start them a long time ago, but today I have read approximately 100 pages in Cinder and 200 in Me before you. Now I don't know what I should read. There are many options. It's almost 2 a.m. here right now. I might just have to sleep for a few hours. Sometimes I have so much fun in the late evening / in the night, when I'm reading, so I don't really want to sleep. We'll see how it goes.

Good luck with the readathon!
I'll be back.

The readathon has begun.

Hello there!

This is my first time that I actually am participating in the Dewey's 24 hour readathon actively. The past few times, I didn't get much reading done... So far, this time, I have finished Cinder, and now I'm going to continue reading Me before you. I'll try to finish it too. I suddenly became really tired after finishing Cinder, and I took a short nap. Cinder just blew me away! Wow! I just looove that book! Well, I might be a little partial, since my name is Cindarella 😉 lol... But it is the best sci fi I have read in a long time. I just have to get all the other books in the series. I love love love that book!

Now I'm going to continue reading.
Stay tuned!

One more thing, before I go...

Howdy!

It seems like my writers block has been unblocked! 😁 Oh, what a wonderful feeling... 😄 I've been so random in posting on this blog, I'm so sorry... Today I have watched a few videos on YouTube, uploaded by my favorite youtuber. I get a lot more inspiration when I watch her videos. Anyways... I just remembered that on Saturday, there's the Reading marathon! Dewey's 24 hour readathon  I have tried to participate in the readathon a few times, with very little time to read. This time I'm going to try to get rid of all the distractions. I love readathons. I was thinking of planning which books to read and try to set up some kind of system, with breaks and spurts. Let's see how it goes... Wish me luck! I'm going to start planning tonight... Thank goodness for my bullet journal. 😀

Dear Readers...

Hiya!

I'm back! Crazy fall... I have been ill over a week. I've got a horrible cold. I've had more time but little energy, so my reading has been on/off. One day I can read a lot, the following nothing at all, then I might get into a mini reading slump. It's been really hard to read. Sometimes I just watch YouTube videos about books. My favorite person on YouTube uploads usually 2 videos every week, about books and reading. I'm sooo addicted to her channel. I really can't watch anything else. Lol... Most of the books I buy are recommended by her. I have noticed that I love YA, and almost exclusively YA... I have been enjoying the break from "adult" books...

I have been reading many books at the same time, still a chapter here, a chapter there. One thing that is good about this is that once I keep up with it I'll finish several books around the same time. If I succeed, I'll have a good chance to reach my Goodreads goal... Hope I can make it. So far I've read 16 Books this year. I'm such a slow reader. I need to practice reading a bit faster.

Next Tuesday I'm going back to my home, I have been on a little visit, and once I'm home I'll reunite with my dear books. And my darling bookshelves 💓...

I have 200 pages left of Me before you
And 160 pages left of Cinder
I'm only 50 pages in All the light we cannot see

Well, my Goodreads goal is 25 at the moment... Wish me luck! 😉

Currently reading and just finished 😊

Hello there!

Yesterday, I stayed up late to finish Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. It was spectacular. I haven't enjoyed a book so much since Gone with the Wind...  I bought my copy of Fangirl on Friday, when I was visiting my friend in Helsinki. I did first borrow it from the library but I couldn't finish it so quick, because I wanted to really enjoy it. So, I had to return it to the library. Well, anyways... I finished it last night. I really loved it. I want to read everything by Rainbow Rowell now. I'm sooo happy that I found this author. 😊

I'm currently reading many books at the same time. Here are a few of them...

An ember in the ashes

Me before you

Cinder

And many more...

Have a great day! I'll be back 😊

Interrogating my book shelves. ..

Hi!
Earlier I promised to go through my books and interrogate my book shelves. I'm only going to list three books for each category... I have over 400 books. 😊 Let's do this!

READ

Three of my most recent reads are :

Puhdistus

Gone with the Wind

And...

Dead until Dark

This is part one of my interrogation...

I liked all three books, but I really didn't enjoy Dead until Dark. It was too sexy. The plot was interesting but I didn't fall in love with the characters. I might have had too high hopes for it.

I really loved Gone with the Wind. It was wonderful. I laughed, I cried, I got angry at the characters... The book made me think,  feel and learn.

Puhdistus was a very dark novel. It was so dark, it was too dark for me. I was kind of angry at the end. It was a disappointment, but at the same time it was kind of satisfying, to have come to the end and the horrible things stopped. I didn't really get the end. I didn't understand what really happened.

Well, that's all for now.

Bye bye!

Fall is approaching...

Hi!

Lately I have been watching a lot of BookTube videos on Youtube and there is sooo many good recommendations, my TBR is growing alarmingly fast... :P Mostly I watch videos about YA... I don't know, I just like those kind of books... Once upon a time, I bought many different YA series, and most of them are still a-waiting on my shelves... I'm SO sorry, dear books! There's mermaids, vampires, trolls, dragons and what-not... I started the True Blood book series... So far I've read the first book. It's definitely NOT YA, but it's one of the series I bought during my shopping-spree... The shopping-spree lasted for several years. You'd be amazed how much a person can buy, books, stuffed animals, CD's, when on a shopping spree. I was somewhat of a shopaholic.

Now I'm currently reading:

Fangirl

Cinder

Me before you

And a few others, I always love to read many books at the same time. Why not? :) Today I'm maybe finally starting to read the Illustrated version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. I still have a few weeks before I have to return it to the library. I haven't counted how many times I've read it, but I haven't read this fabulous version yet <3 I have taken a little sneak peak at some of the pictures. They are so beautiful.

So. It's finally Fall... I was thinking of reading something "Halloween"-y (except Harry Potter) for Fall and start preparing for Halloween. Many people here in Finland don't celebrate Halloween, but I'm usually celebrating it in some way or the other. On Valentine's Day I love watching horror movies, home alone with my cats. So maybe I should watch a chick-flick for Halloween? Lol. That would be interesting. :P

Have a great weekend! :)

Dear Readers...

Dear Readers...

Today I watched "Mockingjay pt. 2"... Needless to say, I loved it. I have somehow managed to avoiding watching it until now. It was like a delicious candy, that I put away for later pleasure ;) Well, it wasn't the same with me and the Hunger Games' books... I read them so so fast. Now I really regret devouring them so fast. Today I decided to go back to the books and re-read them... It was the same problem as the Divergent-series. I read them so fast and then like; "Huh? Are they over?"... Well, thank goodness they're not over for ever more. One can always re-visit those dearly beloved classics of YA Dystopia...

I've been a lazy reader lately... I just started Fangirl on Saturday... I know, I know... I'm completely and utterly late to the party... So far I _LOVE_ it! If I really enjoy the rest of the book as much as it very promising beginning, I dare say, I will have to read everything by Rainbow Rowell... I borrowed Fangirl from the local library (BUT!) if I really like it, I will put it on my wishlist :) Alas, it was the only available book by Rainbow Rowell at the moment at the library, but I'll just have to order the rest!

It has happened multiple times... I enjoy a book just SO much, I get crazy about it, and finally buy all the books by the author. Some of my auto-buy authors are: Stephen King, John Irving and Dan Brown...

Well, well, well... My cats are meowing (I only have two), it's dinnertime...

Later! :)

Books and music.

Hi,

I usually need the perfect music when I'm reading. It depends of course what I want to read. If I'm reading Harry Potter, for example, I need to listen to the soundtracks of the Harry Potter -movies. For some reason, when I was reading the Twilight -series, I almost always listened to HIM (a Finnish rock band ). They just went perfectly together. Sometimes I also "listen" to a movie while reading the book it is based on. For example, when I'm reading LOTR  (which I have yet to finish, yikes!) I sometimes "listen" to the LOTR movies...

Well, I have to go to the gym early tomorrow morning, better eat, read and finally sleep so I'll be somewhat awake tomorrow in time for my BodyBalance class...

Nite, nite!

Sunday, September 4, 2016

Hello, I'm back! :)

Hi there everybody!

What's up? I just realized that I'm very much behind on my goodreads goal, and my currently-reading -shelf is getting bigger and bigger, as per usual... There are some books I start over and over again, because I keep telling myself I have forgotten the beginning... Often I leave a book "hanging" for a long time, because I want to savor it, enjoy it as much as possible. I "save" good books to be read at a more convenient time, when I have more time to fully enjoy it. Which is stupid. I, Cindarella Santonen, will never go around saving books. I will enjoy them right here, right now... Because there's no time like the present, right? :) LoL, I don't know if I'm making much sense today... :P I apologize...

I finished a very interesting book a few weeks ago, it's called "Puhdistus" in Finnish, it's by Sofi Oksanen. Here is the link to it in English:

It was...

a. horrifying
b. un-putdownable
c. depressing

But it was worth the read. I will never forget it...

Well, now I'm going to go sit on my bed and read something, something I feel like reading tonight...
Good night!
From Finland with Love,
Cindy

24 in 48 read a thon

Hi there!

Tonight I'm starting the 24 in 48 read a thon 23rd to 24th of July. I'm going to update my progress on this blog. It's 12.57 a.m. here in Finland right now and I suffer from insomnia, so I might as well start... I'm going to start the read a thon by continuing reading all the books I haven't finished yet. They are many...

More later!

Here's the link to the read a thon.

My other blog

Hey, hey, hey guys!

Hi!

Today is Saturday, my second favourite day of the week. My most favourite day is Sunday. Well, anyways... I have been reading many books at the same time. Well, not literally, but you get my drift. ☺ lol, literally. 😊 How do you get or catch a drift? Well, let's stick to the subject. Haha. I'm sooo funny.

I have been thinking about posting a list kind of thing here, interrogatingmy bookshelves. I got the idea from another page,

Book Riot

I'll get back to it later.

Hello, hello, hello! 😊

Hi there!

I'm back so soon, I surprised myself lol...

How are you, dear readers? That's a rethorical question, you don't need to answer that. You may, if you want of course 😊Suddenly my blogging inspiration is back. I hope it's going to stay... I just loo looove blogging. I could seriously make my living by blogging. One huge obstacle is the problem that I love to write in three different languages... That's a really tricky problem. It sucks. Seriously. Well, let's not dwell on the negative things, but embrace the diversity. 😁

Books. Yes, that is what this blog is all about. Books, books and more books...

I was thinking of doing a few "challenges" or "prompts" as the youtubers say... Tune in for that and more, later in this blog.

I've been busy -reading - of course. And travelling, spending time with my Dad. I went on a trip with my Dad yesterday and today. I had a lot of time to read. I brought with me six  (!) books on the cruise. I only read a few pages in two books. Maybe 100 pages. I have noticed that I am a slow reader and I want to savour every word. It's best for me to absorb everything. Well, I guess you could do it quickly, but I like to save the book, so that it doesn't just rush by, all the words like a stream of consciousness. Well, what a cliche... I'm just a one basket short of a picnic when it comes to writing "creatively" lol. That's what you get. My life is just a big cliché. LoL. Not.

Hmm, aren't I in a contemplating mood today? Oh, fudge, all I can think of is more clichés. One thing I learned at the University of Stockholm is that you have to innovative, write your own clichés, your own kind of "style" and stick out from the crowd.

What would my favourite teachers say now? Probably they would still give me bad/low grades. The only two subjects in senior high school that I wanted to excel in were English and Music. At the University of Stockholm, I sailed through the first semester of English, except it be for one exam. But I did get through it a few years later.

Oops, this isn't so much about books,  but about English and my studies. Sorry!
Well , I guess I'mdone for this time. Sorry.

Let's start at the very beginning...

Hello!

I'm going to start with one of my favorite books : Orange is the new black. Written by Piper Kerman. I'm currently re-reading it. It's amazing. Also it's very different than the series on Netflix...

What interested me in the beginning was the prison life. When I was 17, I was in a hospital for eight months... I had little freedom. It was in many ways like a prison. People lied, formed friendships but didn't always get along perfectly. It was a very unique experience and also a really hard one.

What I love about the book is the humour and the realness of the experiences. No fake account of life in prison. I get sometimes so frustrated with the "system" and I have been playing with the thought to write to the adresses at the end of the book and make a stand against the horrible things that are caused by the management of the prisons in the states. Compared to Finnish jail, it's barbaric. Just as the experiences described in Girl, Interrupted by Susauna Kaysen, about a mental institution on the East coast of the states, the conditions are horrid. I hope that everyone who reads these books will want to change the conditions in both jails and hospitals all over the western world. Not to mention the conditions in other parts of the world. We have surely been blessed here in Finland, where it's almost like a holiday to go to jail. That's not that good either. At least we have good health care and not the astronomically expensive hospital bills that I have heard of in the United States.

Well, what do I really know about these things? I have been watching the news, some documents and of course read the true stories about Susauna and Piper. I'm not an expert, I'm just very interested in these things.

Bye for now!

A new bookish beginning...

Hi there!

Sooo... I was thinking about starting a new blog, all about my favoritebooks... I'm fairly active on Goodreads and I'm crazy about books.  I usually read many books at the same time. This blog is going to be only about the books I have read, am currently reading and books I plan to read. I hope you enjoy this blog.
